Steve
Endsley's Midwest Goings and Doings

Updated 02/02/08
Steve has become the keeper of the keys in
the Midwest when it comes to the folk scene. He organizes mountain and hammered
dulcimer workshops, is the director of the Dulcimer Gathering at the Mounds, is
the main volunteer and fill-in MC at the Dickson Mounds Coffeehouse series, has
sat on the Board and been instrumental in keeping the Gebhard Woods Dulcimer
Festival alive and well, appears regularly at various functions playing his
mountain dulcimer, and has become my right-hand man at the West Carolina
University Dulcimer Workshop Week. I know I’ve left out a bunch of stuff he
does, but he’s harder to keep up with than 50 kittens. Oh, did I mention he's
also a national class dulcimer builder?
Anyway, Steve always has a long list of the
music, dances, jams, and festivals that are happening in the central Illinois
area, so we decided to get those events out there so others can see the richness
of the Midwest folk scene and participate in it. --Mike
